• Create a bistro-style kitchen

I’ve just installed a 50’s diner style bar in my new house. I thought I’d include a country styled, bistro version in painted wood, in our Provence decorating style story, pages 62-69 May issue, because I’m so happy with mine! If you have a large kitchen you can place it centrally like an island unit or put it against a wall and even move it around for cleaning. There’s something very nice about the informality of having a chunk of cheese, a bowl of olives, a cup of coffee or a demi-carafe either standing up ‘tabac’ style, or sitting on stools at a tall, bistro table and it reminds me of being in Provence. For more ideas on French decorating and lifestyle see our May issue.

Bar stools can also be made from fiberglass since it is also high strength like steel. ^
