I don’t know about you but when its cold outside my mind travels to far flung exotic places, full of spicy aroma, colour and rich texture. That’s why we decided to do The well travelled home, our big country decorating story in Feb issue, p60-67, (out now!). Its packed with decorating ideas from the emporium and old days of travel and exploration, such as ‘hand-loomed’ weaves for curtains and lampshades, kilims to layer over chesterfield and conker brown, leather trunks for storage. We even have shelves salvaged from old train carriages and carpet bags to hang on them!

Shown here is a breakfast table and bench fashioned from a vintage water tank, made comfortable with Souk style poufs and cushions. A silver service style cafetiere adds the final touch of luxury!

Industrial water tank table and bench, Antiques by Design, The Old Cinema. Moroccan leather Kilim drum pouffe, Bohemia Design. Seat cushion fabric, Malabar. Aztec cushion cover, Oka. Thermique 8 cup polished steel Cafetiere, La Cafetiere.

I love the contrast between the industrial table and the highly polished cafetiere. Gorgeous!
