Swedish country bedroom

If you like Swedish style, you’ll love this timeless country bedroom with its limewashed boarded walls, simple white wooden bed and pretty folk art patterned bedlinen.
Boarded walls evoke an instant rustic feel – combine with painted floorboards to continue the theme and add a pretty rug for warmth underfoot. The cosy shades in the bedlinen, meanwhile, provide a lift of colour and sit beautifully with the painted furniture – red bedside tables pick up the shades in the bedlinen.
The folk art pattern on the bedlinen was inspired by Ikea designer Eva Lundgreen’s memories of the long summers she spent as a child on her grandparents’ farm in Sweden. ‘Memories of the old wreaths and medallions on the wallpaper in my grandparents’ wooden house were with me when I painted and worked on the patterns,’ she says. ’I loved country life on the farm – I remember large strawberry fields and potato and carrot crops, as well as all the farm animals and the memory of riding in a hay cart.’ Doesn’t it sound idyllic?
