    Country room: classic kitchen

    by  • 27/05/2014 • Country style • 2 Comments

White is a firm favourite in a country kitchen, and it’s easy to see why as there’s nothing like it for creating a bright and airy room.

A classic white handpainted Shaker design, such as this one by Rencraft, works well with dark granite worktops. Interest can be added with an island unit painted in a slightly darker shade and topped with travertine, while stylish high-back bar stools make the perfect place to perch for a cuppa.

A panelled chimney with a mantle shelf and tiled splashback is a great way of making a focal point of the range cooker. And don’t you just love that trio of on-trend chrome fisherman’s lamps that add the perfect finishing touch above the island?

Classic style hand painted kitchen (cupboards painted in Pointing by Farrow & Ball, island painted in Shaded White by Farrow & Ball) by Rencraft. Prices start at £16,000.

    Country buy: Farrow & Ball

    by  • 24/05/2013 • Country moment, Country style • 0 Comments

Farrow & Ball is one of the most iconic names when it comes to country decorating. Earlier this week I visited the head office in Wimborne, Dorset, to go behind the scenes and see where the magic happens!

I was given a guided tour of the whole process: from where the creative team enthusiastically brainstorm new colours and designs, to where the experts mix the paints and print the wallpapers. It was fascinating to see just how much dedication goes into every step. Be it the paints or wallpapers, the team takes tremendous pride in ensuring each batch, however large or small, meets Farrow & Ball’s high requirements.

    The perfect country kitchen

    by  • 11/08/2009 • Country style • 2 Comments

I was doing a bit of picture research yesterday for a feature we have coming up on the perfect country kitchen. I love this lovely sunny kitchen and thought I’d share it with you. Traditional elements such as an Aga and a wooden Windsor chair are mixed with the clean lines of Plain English classic cupboards in harvest colours by Farrow & Ball. A patterned blind lets light flood in and the cream breadbin, copper pans and framed lavender print add to the country theme.
